Quando volsi lo sguardo al cielo
la vidi non più splendente del solito.
Mi convinsi che stesse guardandomi,
volli convincermi che stesse sorridendomi,
dovetti convincermi che stesse persino parlandomi,
disse:
riduci la tua falcata
getta l’ancora
fermarti.

Quando volsi lo sguardo verso il cielo
la vidi ormai monca
stava per proseguire il suo cammino
stava per essere rapita dalle montagne,
le stesse di cui presto sarei stato anche io prigioniero.

When I directed my gaze to the sky
I saw her no more shiny than usual.
I convinced myself that she was looking at me,
I wanted to convince myself that she was smiling at me,
I had to convince myself that she was even speaking to me,
She said:
reduce the stride of your step
drops anchor
stop.

When I directed my gaze to the sky
I saw her by now crippled
She was continuing her journey
She was being robbed by the mountains,
The same mountains that soon have imprisoned me.
